- Abstract
The article presents a case study of a 48-year-old man to the emergency department in respiratory distress. Topics include supporting with venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV-ECMO) initiating via a bicaval and dual-lumen catheter; physical examination demonstrating no recruitment of the submental or sternocleidomastoid muscles; and increasing the mechanical stress applying to the alveoli and pulmonary vasculature.
