- Abstract
This article discusses the limitations of a study on mortality among individuals with hypochondriasis. The study may underestimate the mortality risk due to underdiagnosis and the exclusion of undiagnosed individuals. It may also overestimate the risk by including more severe cases. The authors acknowledge these limitations and emphasize the need for improved care models for individuals with health anxiety. The article references two research studies published in BMJ Open and JAMA Psychiatry, both of which examine the relationship between health anxiety and the risk of ischemic heart disease using data from the Hordaland Health Study and the Cardiovascular Diseases in Norway project. These studies provide valuable insights into the potential link between health anxiety and the development of ischemic heart disease.
