- Abstract
The article discusses various issues related to the politics and government of France in 1993. During the general election, President Francois Mitterrand attempted to limit the expected landslide victory of the right wing by appointing Pierre Bérégovoy as prime minister. But, the right wing parties challenged the Socialist Party to attain their goals. After the appointment of Edouard Balladur to the premiership, he was able to prepare an outline law on employment which would encourage greater flexibility for workers.
