The article discusses the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit case John Carey, Individually and On Behalf of Other Employees Similarly Situated v. 24 Hour Fitness USA which deals with a company-endorsed arbitration policy and an allegedly illusory contract for employment. Several American statutes are addressed, including the nation's Federal Arbitration Act and the Fair Labor Standards Act.
