- Abstract
Aspects of the effect of short-term training procedures upon the acquisition of the concept of conservation were investigated. 4 hypotheses were examined, yielding the following results: (a) screening misleading cues did not induce conservation; (b) Bruner's modes of representation conflict hypothesis was not substantiated; (c) transitional phase Ss were more likely to conserve and change progressively; and (d) using the present procedures, it was not possible to assess definitively whether only partial progress could be induced.
