- Title
The New Chinese Diaspora: Embracing the Model Minority and Perpetual Foreigner?
- Authors
Wu, Frank H.
- Abstract
The author describes the newest community of Chinese immigrants to the U.S., based on his speech at the 2017 Chinese Historical Society of America (CHSA) Conference. Topics covered include the political sentiments of the latest arrivals, and the difference between the Chinese immigrants who came prior to the Magnuson Act and those who came afterward. It notes that the new wave of immigrants are predominantly from mainland China, who come at a time when China has emerged as a global power.
