- Authors
Schimmel, David
- Abstract
The article focuses on the 2003 decision of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court in Goodridge v. Department of Public Health, and the use of its legal framework of opinions as the basis for civil discussion of differing views. The author shares that the incorporation of the teaching of Goodridge into social studies or civics curriculum in high school can be an appropriate way of teaching same-sex marriage, while helping students understand and respect differing opinions.
