Reducing Dietary Sodium.
- Authors
Alderman, Michael H.
- Abstract
The author discusses available evidence most significant to a suggestion for universal reduction of dietary sodium. The author references findings from multiple randomized clinical trials (RCT) which suggest that reduction of sodium intake also increases sympathetic nerve activity and activates the renin angiotensin system. Findings from observational cohort studies on the association between sodium consumption and clinical outcomes are tackled.
