Werner Hasselblatt on Cultural Autonomy: A Forgotten Manuscript.
- Authors
Hackmann, Jörg
- Abstract
The article focuses on Werner Hasselblatt and his notion of cultural autonomy against the background of Estonian politics and on Nazi minority and nationality politics after 1933. It says that Hasselblatt plays a crucial role in history such as the development of Estonia's law on cultural autonomy for national minorities in 1925 and the Nazi rule. Furthermore, Hasselblatt's Estonian manuscript reflects the process of switching from constructive minority politics to negative nationality politics.
