- Abstract
This article discusses a case of a manufacturing defect in the Murphy's eye of an endotracheal tube, which is used to secure a patient's airway during intubation. The defect went unnoticed during routine inspections before intubation and caused a mucus plug-like substance to obstruct the tube, leading to respiratory distress. The defect was discovered during a fiberoptic bronchoscopy, and the timely removal of the tube prevented further complications. The article emphasizes the importance of thorough inspection and double-checking of endotracheal tubes before use to ensure patient safety.
