- Abstract
The present study explores and compares light sensitivity and phototaxis in common house spiders and grass spiders, and considers why common house spiders swarm near white LED illumination. EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS AND DISCUSSION Wavelength dependence of phototaxis Figure 3 shows attraction rate versus wavelength in common house spiders (A) and grass spiders (B). These results were indicative of positive phototaxis in both common house spiders and grass spiders; besides, the former showed more pronounced positive phototaxis in a wavelength band of 402-573 nm.
