Introduction: Skin cancer is a multifactorial disease resulting from genetic changes, environmental factors and lifestyle. The main cause of skin cancers is the exposure to ultraviolet rays (R-UV), the sun being its main source. Objective: To identify the profile of Physical therapy students regarding exposure and sun protection. Methods: The present study was a quantitative field research, carried out in the city of Patos, Paraíba, Brazil. The study analyzed the profile of the students, knowing the lifestyle habits regarding the exposure and sun protection and to improve the knowledge of these students regarding the possible complications and risks. 45 students of Physical therapy participated, 36 female and 9 male, 18 to 27 years old. 57.8% of the participants affirmed the use of protective measures, the sunscreen being the most cited (40.0%). The use of sunscreen was pointed out by most of the sample when going to beach or swimming pools (28.9%), with the product being reapplied for the most part twice (33.3%) or never (31.1%). Most of the students pointed out that 77.8% do not have a family history of skin cancer. The most present skin biotype was white skin (44.4%), followed by light white skin (20.0%) and light brown skin (17.8%). We concluded that the students have a good knowledge about the care and protection measures regarding their skin, but they still have erroneous attitudes regarding the types and protection measures.
