- Abstract
An experiment was conducted at Agricultural Reseasch farm of Banaras Hindu university, Varansi during two years on pigeon pea [Cajnus cajan (L.) Millsp.] to manage the pod and grain damage by pod berer insect pests. The maize, pearl millet, sorghum, rice and black gram were grown with pigenpea cv- Bahar as intercrops. The bio-insecticides i.e. N.S.K.E. 5% Bacillus thuringiensis Kurstaki (B.T.) 1% and nimbecidine 1.5% were sprayed two times (first at flowering and pod formation stage and second after 20 days of first spray) . The intercroppirighad significant influence in reducing the pod damage and grain damage (in number and by weight). The pigeonpea + rice and pigeonpea + sorghum were observed as most effective intercrops to minimise the crop losses. The one and two spray of bio-insecticides had significant influence in reducing of pod and grain damage (by number and by weight). Among which two sprays of NSKE 5% found most effictive followed by two sprays of Nimbecidine in reducing the crop lossed inflicted by Helicoverpa armigera, Lampides boetcus, Exelastis atomosa, Grapholita critica, Clavigralla gibbosa and Melanagromyza obtusa.
