- Abstract
This article examines two textual transmission problems related to Lo fingido verdadero by Lope de Vega. Menendez y Pelayo's edition of this play in 1894 contains two mistakes concerning the wrong insertion of a comma (during the very important baptism scene of act 3) and of a "c" which changes the word "loa" in "loca" (in the stage direction that introduces Ginés acting before the Emperor in act 2). Since then, modern editions (and translations) repeat this two apparently "insignificant" mistakes that, nevertheless, the article reveals to be very significant in order to interprete the scenes properly and to do the imaginative reconstruction of the performance that the dramatic text was destined to evoke.
