- Abstract
The article discusses a study on the infectious disease pythiosis. It states that the disease is caused by the fungus Pythium insidiosum, and mentions that most infections have occurred in northern Thailand, due to environmental conditions like presence of tropical wetlands, which is favorable for the fungus. It notes findings of a study on patients with vascular and ocular pythiosis at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital in Thailand, which revealed survival of the patients after surgery.
