- Abstract
An article on the memorials along the former border between the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic is presented. The author gives an overview of the memorials along the former border, such as a former American barracks in Geisa, Germany, along with examining narratives about the border, and the legacy of the border and its lieux de memoire on the political consciousness of the 21st century. The celebration of various anniversaries in memory of the fall of the wall is described by the author as a sign of the impact these events have had on the German collective memory.
