- Abstract
The article discusses the depiction of scenes from the French poem "La Folie Tristan (Tristan the Fool)" within medieval Gothic ivory carvings on caskets known as Hermitage Tristan Casket II and the Cluny Casket. The depiction of the legendary character Tristan on the ivory carving, including his entertaining of the fictitious character King Mark of Cornwall, is discussed.
