- Abstract
The mitigation of CO2 emission is an urgent issue to be addressed. CO2 electroreduction into carbon-neutral fuels renders an appealing strategy to settle the anthropogenic environmental problems. In this study, silver nanocubes with 43 nm in length enclosed by {111} facet were synthesized for the CO2 electrocatalytic reduction to CO. The nanocubes exhibit excellent catalytic activity in regard to outstanding CO Faradaic efficiency with the maximum approximately 98% and eminent long-term stability. The enhanced catalytic activity may be attributed to stable low-index {111} facet of Ag nanocubes with low surface energy. Silver nanocubes with the length of 43 nm enclosed by {111} facet have been successfully fabricated as an effective electrocatalyst for CO2 reduction to CO. The stable low-index {111} facet of Ag nanocubes with low surface energy plays a key role in the electrocatalytic reaction.
