- Abstract
The article focuses on the compassionate release of terminally ill prisoners. Topics discussed include the administrative process of compassionate release by the U.S. Bureau of Prisons being time consuming, compassionate release not being granted to prisoner Mark Jones, the views of professor Jeremy Bentham on incarceration of the terminally ill in book "The Theory of Legislation, end-of-life care in prisons being inadequate and the need for compassionate release decisions to be made by judges.
