- Abstract
The article focuses on a study on the effect of insulin glargine on glycemic control in hospitalized patients with diabetes receiving enteral nutrition. Inpatients were assigned to glargine insulin with sliding scale regular (SSR) or SSR alone with neutral protamine Hagedorn (NPH) for persistent hyperglycemia. Mean, nadir and peak capillary blood glucoses (CBG), frequency of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia were analyzed. No episodes of hypoglycemia with loss of consciousness were found.
