- Abstract
The article presents an overview of the role of female pelvic floor muscles for nurses, including common clinical procedures and their rationale and background theory. The causes and assessment of stress urinary incontinence are discussed. Nursing care for patients with faecal incontinence is examined. The classification of vaginal wall prolapse and the management of prolapse is also examined. A table listing pelvic floor exercises for women is included.
