- Abstract
A single stage high-pressure turbine disk has been designed for a low bypass turbofan engine. The turbine disk operates at extreme operating conditions of temperature and rotational speed with cyclic load due to high throttle excursion. The complex mission profile of these engines demands reliable operation of the turbine throughout the flight envelope maintaining structural integrity. Therefore, qualification of the HP turbine disk is a challenging task. This paper presents the analyses and qualification tests carried out on HP turbine disk to examine the structural integrity as well as the life of the turbine disk. Successful completion of the qualification tests assure the airworthiness of the turbine disk for the aero engine for safe and reliable operation within the flight envelope.
