The article discusses the hierarchical self-assembly process associated with the organization of semiconductor nanoparticles in organic superstructures. Topics discussed include self-assembly of nanorods from zinc selenide nanoparticles using van der Walls forces, activation of paired rods when temperature is increased and complexities related to assemblies of inorganic nanoparticles due to weak cooperative interaction.
