- Abstract
The article focuses on the future prospects of oil and gas production in North Dakota, and its impact on the surrounding environment. It discusses concerns related to corporate social responsibility, and state initiatives along with Indian tribes for environmental management. It informs that North Dakota has become the second leading oil producer of the U.S. because of its improved technologies in horizontal drilling in the rich Bakken and Three Forks oil shale formations in western region.
