- Abstract
The article discusses the highlights of a panel discussion "Black Women, Tenure and the Politics of "Talking Back" during the National Communication Association. The panel featured a diverse group of African-American female Assistant, Associate and Full professors who voiced the politics of earning tenure at both research and teaching institutions. The panel paid close attention to the politics of inclusion and exclusion, balancing responsibilities to service, teaching and research and making sense of who they are as scholars. Aside from the author, participants included Dr. Nickesia Gordon, Dr. Marnel Niles Goins and Dr. Eddah Mbula Mutua.
