The article focuses on the relationship between image and text in poet Christina Rossetti's illustrated poem "Sing-Song." It explores the complex interplay between the illustrations and the poems, highlighting three different modes of illustration: emblematic, narratorial, and performative. It also discusses the involvement of three illustrators, namely Christina Rossetti, Arthur Hughes, and Alice Boyd, shedding light on their contributions and the dynamics between them.
