- Abstract
The article offers poetry criticism of poems by Violet Fane (Mary Montgomery Lamb Singleton Currie) that were published in periodicals. Poems analyzed include "Time," "Killed at Isandula," and "Hazely Heath." The role of time in Fane's poetry is addressed. Also discussed are the role of writer Oscar Wilde as editor of the editor of the periodical "Woman's World," publication of Fane's poems in the periodical "Lady's Realm," and the publication of Fane's work alongside that of poet Bret Harte.
