- Abstract
The article presents a critique and critical reading of the work of author Augusta Webster in the broader context of Victorian women's poetry. Of particular interest is the element of motherhood in the dramatic monologue "Medea in Athens," which was published in the book "Portraits" (1870), and the poems in her book "Mother and Daughter: An Uncompleted Sonnet Sequence" (1895). The Greek mythological figures Medea and Jason are considered.
