The article examines anticommandeering doctrine, an area in which U.S. federal and state governments have diverged in the administration of federalism. Topics discussed include the anticommandeering principle under the 10th Amendment doctrine, the differences between the national and state governments in implementing vertical federalism, and the effect of the doctrine on democratic accountability and collective action problems.
