- Abstract
The article discusses the experiences of American children during the late 1940s and how this shaped them as adults. The author explains that during the early Cold War, children were constantly being prepared for a nuclear attack. Forms of information given to children of this time are examined, including pamphlets, films, and other government created media. The article talks about the film "The Beginning of the End," which was about the development of the first atomic bomb. Subjects of the article also include the movie "Duck and Cover," the documentary "The Atomic Café," and the message of these films.
