- Abstract
The article discusses British colonial law, justice and local governments in the Burma delta from 1890 to 1910. An overview of the British administration of Burma, including Great Britain's toleration of misconduct by government officials, is provided. The rule of law, including its relationship with British colonialism, is discussed. British attitudes on colonialism are also discussed. An overview of the lower courts of Burma, including the judge Maung On Gaing's embezzlement of money from his court and the suspicion of bribery of the magistrate Maung Gyi, is also provided.
