The article presents a research on the theater in Nepal. A discussion of the history of modern theater in the country, focusing on the period from 1930s to 1960s, is offered to determine its role in culture, national politics and cultural policy. The author presents her suggestions and arguments in the light of the April 2006 revolt of the Nepali people and current developments on modern theater in the country.
