- Abstract
This article presents information related to toxic contents in sediments from coastal area receiving industrial effluents in Kuwait. Sediment samples were collected from the Shuaiba coast between Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery and Harbor area. The toxicity was determined after transferring the fractions in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) by Microtox assay. The whole extracts showed extreme toxicity to Microtox. The four SGCC fractions showed toxicity of variable degree. The acidic fraction, however, contained the compounds of moderate toxicity.
