- Abstract
The article presents a study on the microfoundations and mechanisms which may impact trust, reciprocity and cooperation for different social groups. A field experimental approach was used to study the interaction between social exclusion and collective action in Latin America. Participants were asked about the scope and scale of the welfare state. The findings showed the willingness of Latin Americans to trust and cooperate and retaliation and expectations are significant drivers of trust and cooperation.
