- Abstract
The article examines the effects of the accumulated Tributyltin Oxide (TBTO) towards the fertilization as well as the embryonic development of the Crassosteria gigas. A study has been conducted which investigates the degree of accumulation and depurtation of TBTO in various tissues of the Pacific oysters. The result shows that the maximum concentration of the accumulated TBTO in the oysters' body has been found to be higher in the gills, gonad, digestive diverticula, mantle as well as in the adductor muscles. Finally, the implications of such compound in the ovary and testis was also investigated, where a decline on the rates of the fertilization and embryonic development has been found.
