- Abstract
This study is devoted to the study of a new quasistatic contact model for a thermo-viscoelastic body and a thermally conductive foundation. The constitutive relations follow the fractional Kelvin-Voigt law, while the contact is characterized by a damped normal response. We establish a variational formulation of the model and demonstrate the existence of a weak solution. Furthermore, we investigate the numerical approach by employing spatially semi-discrete and fully discrete finite element schemes with the Grünwald–Letnikov scheme. Finally, we derive error estimates for the approximations.
