- Abstract
The increasing globalization of media has increased the Americanization of wedding functions in countries like Pakistan. The study aimed to discover the Role of media in the perception, practices, and future preferences of young women regarding the trend of the bridal shower. Exploratory research was conducted using qualitative methodology. Convenient sampling was done, and in-depth interviews were taken with 20 young females, ten from FJWU, Rawalpindi, and ten from IIU, Islamabad, using an in-depth interview guide schedule. Thematic analysis was done, and four themes were deduced, including knowledge and perception regarding the globalization of media, Knowledge and Perception regarding bridal showers, Role and power of media because of its knowledge and Practices, and future preferences regarding the bridal shower. Media, mainly social media through globalization, influences young girls towards following the trend through its power of knowledge. Moreover, young Pakistani girls are following it with the fear of not being alienated while considering their sociocultural and religious values.
