- Abstract
The article highlights a study which illustrates the first T cells response to transmitted HIV-1 and shows that these responses effectively control viraemia during the acute phase of infection. The authors of the study identified the single founder infecting virus and the subsequent mutations in the whole genome of virus by sequencing the virus from three patients seen before seroconversion. It was observed that T cell responses occurred after the virus escaped immune recognition.
