GRAMMAR OF LITTLE MANHOOD Ralph Ellison and the Queer Little Man at Chehaw Station.
- Authors
Boggs, Nicholas
- Abstract
The article offers a literary critique of the essay "The Little Man at Chehaw Station: The American Artist and His Audience" by Ralph Ellison, with particular attention paid to the themes of masculinity, sexuality, and the relationship between classical and vernacular American culture. The author argues that the "little men" in the essay, or figures which exhibit cultural taste and exist outside the norm of black masculinity, can be interpreted in the context of black feminist and queer studies.
