- Title
GLEANING ETHIOPIA.
- Authors
Woubshet, Dagmawi
- Abstract
The article explores the underpinnings of the self-representation espoused by Ethiopia on its continental identity against the background of distinction that is pervasive in the country. To some extent, Ethiopian history is defined by its exceptionalism, being the first nation to adopt Christianity or the only African country to have its own alphabet. It simply fixes all Ethiopians with certain phenotypes whom the nation defines itself and reifies its standards of beauty, character and social norm.
