- Title
Una Sinverguenza.
- Authors
Aquino, Melissa Coss
- Abstract
This article presents the author's insights on the role of shame or uno sirverguenza in writing honestly. She defines sirverguenza as an adjective morphed from the noun sinverguenza, and usually used to describe any and all behavior that might get the snakes talking. It explains that, what keeps her from writing honestly are the things she can't say about the people and place she came from, Puerto Rico. The author also emphasizes that when writing about Puerto Ricans, one should not mention any single negative terms including the quality of their English or Spanish, drug dealers, lazy, and roaches.
