- Title
Cell death: Some like it hot.
- Authors
Jones, Bryony
- Abstract
The article provides information on cell death. It reveals that heat-related pathologies including heatstroke may lead to acute tissue injury, multi-organ failure, and death and presents a research which identifies a conserved mechanism that protects against heatstroke-mediated necrosis and neurodegeneration. It stimulates hyperthermia by exposing Caenorhabditis elegans worms to 39 degrees Celsius for 25 minutes in an attempt to gain insight into the molecular mechanisms of heat cytotoxicity.
