The article reports on the study that investigates the interaction between plus end-tracking proteins (+TIP) and end-binding protein 1 (EB1). It shows that +TIP localized to microtubule tips only in the presence of EB1, which suggests that EB1 is essential for microtubule tip tracking. It also reveals that the substitution of hydrophobic residues in short polypeptide motif (SxIP) with polar ones abolished the interaction between +TIP and EB1.
