- Title
THE ABC IN CRISIS?
- Authors
HENDERSON, GERARD
- Abstract
The article explores the current state of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and its perceived crisis. The author acknowledges his positive views of the ABC and personal connections to some of its presenters. While the ABC is not facing an existential crisis due to its guaranteed funding and lack of dependence on ratings or advertising, it is criticized for its lack of political diversity and conservative voices. The article also discusses instances of abuse directed at conservative individuals and the failure of ABC management to address this issue. The author suggests that a tough-minded managing director is needed to reform the ABC and address its lack of political diversity.
