- Abstract
The author reflects on the provisions on marine pollution under the Law of the Sea (LOS) Treaty. He first discusses the possibility for the LOS Treaty to receive the required ratifications to enter into force. He notes that the text of the LOS Treaty seeks to balance navigational rights against concerns on marine pollution. He explains his assumption that a possible regime for pollution in the future will be one that provides the coastal state with a greater role in the territorial sea and the economic zone.
