- Abstract
The article discusses a study conducted by the Corp. for Comprehensive Analysis about the environmental benefits of plastic packaging. The study compared the amount of energy consumed and the amount of green house gas (GHG) emissions generated through the use of plastics and alternative materials. Packaging films resulted in energy savings of 255 M GJ/year and reduced GHG emissions of 24.7 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent for Western Europe.
