- Abstract
The article emphasizes the importance of accurate diagnosis in dermatology by presenting a case of a 41-year-old woman with itchy, scaly plaques on her buttocks, legs, shoulder and hand. While the patient had been using a topical corticosteroid cream, the worsening condition led to a diagnosis of tinea incognito, caused by a dermatophyte infection. Treatment with oral antifungal therapy led to complete clearance of the infection.
