- Authors
HERNÁNDEZ MUÑOZ, Felipe G.
- Abstract
The article presents the Spanish translation of "Descriptio Insulae Cretae" made by Manuel Serrano. The book is a travel account of the island of Crete written in Latin by Cristoforo Buondelmonti during the Italian Renaissance. Serrano, a colleague from the University of Alicante and honorary consul of Greece in Spain, has dedicated a large part of his academic career to the study of Crete. This translation is the first in Spanish and offers a detailed view of the island, including references to archaeological sites and topographical errors. Serrano's work is considered a combination of philological and historical criticism, and it shows his love and passion for Crete.
