- Abstract
Mahmut Yesari, follower of the tradition defined by Ahmet Mithat Efendi's line in Turkish literature, is a writer who reflected on his way of life and what life had given to him on the level of time-space. Yesari, having earned his living by writing, wrote in his works about the transformations imposed by social changes on the individual; made sociological, psychological references to present the mind and time of the individual as a whole. Yesari, who reflects the conflicts of the individual with himself and society in his works, describes the society that permeates the individual, the individual who strives to exist in society. He suggests that freedom and modernization are breakaways from the self and describes the individual's drift towards degeneration, alienation, the conflict experienced by the desperate in deterioration. Life and death are intertwined in The Blizzard Died Away, in which Yesari deals with the struggle of three brothers to hold on to life. In the process that begins with the death of the father, the psychological deaths experienced by siblings mature them prematurely. Narrating the psychological and then physical destruction of family and the dramatic life of Macit and his siblings' struggle to hold on to life, in the The Blizzard Died Away, the labyrinthine, narrowing lives of the siblings are told in parallel with their internal conflicts. The process of finding a place for himself in world, the loneliness he experiences when cannot succeed, and the reflections of this loneliness are conveyed. In the novel, there are efforts to shape the lives of protagonist Macit and his brothers after their father's death. In study, as a result of the failure of social justice, the brothers' having to live with the loneliness imposed on them by society; their passive rebellion against their loneliness will be examined.
