The article presents the author's views on a research paper on an unusual sex determination mechanism in a book louse, published in this issue. He opines on the documentation of the development of males from fertilized diploid eggs that eliminate half of their genome in the research paper. He comments on the detection of Paternal Genome Elimination (PGE) mechanism.
